Project Overview
The World Coffee Championships in Budapest brought together more than 120 national champions from around the world for three days of competition, celebrating excellence in coffee craft and innovation. We were commissioned to develop the visual identity and branding for the event, creating a design system that reflected both the prestige of the championship and the cultural character of the host city.
The Brief
We were tasked with developing the visual identity and branding for this international event. The creative direction was inspired by the stunning location, incorporating elements of traditional Hungarian folklore and architecture through a series of custom hand-drawn illustrations.

The Challenge
As a global event with participants and visitors from across the coffee industry, the visual identity needed to feel both internationally relevant and locally meaningful. The challenge was to create a cohesive brand that could work across multiple touchpoints — from stage design to digital platforms — while capturing the spirit of Budapest and the energy of the competition.
Our Approach
The creative direction drew inspiration from Budapest’s rich cultural heritage, particularly traditional Hungarian folklore and architectural motifs. We translated these influences into a series of bespoke hand-drawn illustrations that became the foundation of the visual system. This approach allowed us to blend contemporary event branding with subtle references to local culture, giving the championship a distinctive and memorable identity.

The Result
The final design system included the event logo, brand elements, stage backdrop designs, and website visuals. Together, these elements created a cohesive and immersive visual experience that supported the scale and prestige of the championship while celebrating its unique location.
